Explore shapes and color with your kids! Whether you prefer soft blobs of color like Helen Frankenthaler, or if you have a commitment to squares like Josef and Anni Albers, it can be fun to make art that’s not supposed to be anything in particular.
Follow the recipe for DIY paint below, then turn on your child’s favorite songs and try creating art that reflects how the music makes you feel. Soft, flowing curves for instrumental or big bold blocks of color for pop rock, your child will have fun jamming out to their favorite tunes.
Here’s one recipe for simple homemade paints:
- ½ Cup Flour
- ½ Cup Salt
- ½ Cup Water
- Sandwich Bags
Blend the flour with the salt, and then add the water. Divide into three sandwich bags, and add food coloring to get the colors you’d like! This makes 6 ounces of paint.
