Holiday food is a break from the norm that adults look forward to, but a child might not be as excited in this menu deviation.
Try to be understanding as your child adjusts to new people, new environments, and new foods! One thing that might help is to have a few of your child’s favorite snacks on stand-by if the cranberry salad and stuffing don’t look too appealing. Consider packing:
- Fruit pouches
- Fresh fruit or veggies
- Simple sandwich like ham/cheese or peanut butter/jelly
Of course, holidays are a great time for children to try new foods as well!
They can develop new holiday favorites that you can call upon next year, “Remember when you tried that pumpkin pie!?”
