To do: On a plain greeting card, trace a shape from a cookie cutter with light pencil. Punch holes along the outline using a needle, then thread across the pattern randomly to create a woven shape!
Time: 30 minutes
Materials: Cardstock, needle, thread, shape template
Send homemade greeting cards or holiday cards and practice using a needle at the same time! Let your child guide this activity.
Here’s what to do:
1. Using a pencil, trace a shape like a heart, bell, or triangle on a plain piece of card stock.
2. Let your child punch holes at regular internals along the traced shape using a heavy needle or pushpin. Erase your pencil markings.
4. Thread a needle, and let your child ‘sew’ through the holes in random directions, creating a unique pattern! Snip the excess yarn, tie a knot, and send to someone you love.
