Topics: Ages 3-6, Ages 6-9, Arts & Crafts, Early Learning
To do: Tape three straws together at the top. Tie a length of yarn on, and weave over under and back in the opposite pattern.
Time: 15 minutes
Materials: 3 straws, yarn, tape
__
Practice weaving using simple materials: Plastic or paper straws, tape, and yarn. Create a holiday ornament, bracelet, or just a weaving sample!
To start, tape three straws together at the top. Use decorative tape if you’d like, or just clear tape. Double knot a length of yarn on the straw nearest you.
Guide your child to weave the yarn over the first straw, under the second, and over again on the third! Make your way back using the opposite pattern.
You ended ‘over’, so start under the far straw, over the middle straw, and under the near straw. Repeat with the same color yarn, or switch colors to make a new pattern of your own creation.
