Let Your Child Contribute to the Holidays
To do: Find ways your child can contribute to holiday parties, like sharing cookies or singing a song.
Time: 30 minutes
Materials: Whatever your child would like to contribute to your holiday event.
Holidays or big family events can leave a child feeling like a bystander. The attention isn’t on them, and they may not understand completely what all the hubbub is about.
How can your child contribute to a family event? Perhaps they would like to sing a song? Or show a dance they’ve invented? What about sharing their favorite cookies with the entire extended family?
Whatever your child is interested in, find a way to get them involved in the family affair!
If your child has a special responsibility, they will feel like a part of the excitement rather than a bystander. Don’t underestimate your child’s abilities and desire to get involved.
Most importantly, enjoy the time together.
