It’s easy to get in a rut when packing school lunches, 5 days a week for 9 months straight.
But have you ever wanted to diversify your child’s palette just a bit without having to get too gourmet or break the bank on expensive ingredients?
This school year, try sending your child to school with some of these lunch side items. Don’t forget to tuck them inside one of these reusable snack bags recommended by Epicurious!
Veggie Rainbow Medley: Mix up the usual side veggie (baby carrots?!) with snap peas, mild yellow peppers and bright red cherry tomatoes! The beautiful colors will entice your child.
Granola + nuts + dried fruits: So easy, so filling, so many variations! Throw in some yogurt if you want, or keep it as a dry snack in one of the snack bag recommendations above.
Hard Boiled Eggs: Get a little extra protein in at lunch with a simple hard boiled egg. Let your child help you peel the egg the night before, it’s great fine motor practice.
Breakfast Cookies: An oatmeal cookie to suit your family’s tastes (see 6 ideas here from She Likes Food) is a great lunch side. They pack easily and are surprisingly good for you!
Try one or all of the lunch ideas above and see what your child prefers. You might find a new family favorite!
