Whether you’re a tech nerd or just a very busy person who is desperately grateful for anything that saves you half an hour, there’s a lot of new cooking tech to be excited about. Instapots, sous vide, and air fryers have arrived on the scene in a major way, and it doesn’t look like they’re going anywhere. Because they don’t have feet or volition. Also because they actually just make a lot of sense and work extremely well. Especially for busy moms. This week, a recipe for each:
Instapot
This Perfect Chicken and Rice recipe from Delish (photo above) tastes like home. It’s perfect for an OmieBox thermos but also delicious as cold leftovers. (Prep time is estimated here at 5 minutes but it was about 15 when I tried it!)
Air fryer
These apple chips from William Sonoma are a great healthy(ish) alternative to potato chips and literally take about 10 minutes to make, top to bottom. The cinnamon/sweet/salty combo they suggest is addictive! But you can sub it out for any seasoning you like. My boys love these.
Sous vide
These carrots from Great British Chefs take just a few minutes to prepare (my boys enjoy helping with this part!), and come out with way more nutrients than with other ways of cooking them. You can add anything to the bag, including honey, which makes them extra sweet and delicious.
I’d love to hear from you on your favorite Instapot, sous vide, or air fryer recipes – creations or discoveries!
