For the 4th and final week of our January Indoor Exercise Challenge, we invite you to a dance party! And it’s right in your living room.
Dancing is great exercise and it makes you feel good. With winter wearing on, a boost of happiness is something we could all use.
You can still send us photos of your family doing Week 1, Week 2 and Week 3 activities to enter in our giveaway. You could have your name in the drawing up to 4 times. Get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org and enjoy your dance party!
Week 4: Dance Party
Practice rhythm and sequences by dancing to “If You’re Happy and You know It” or play your favorite dancing tunes
Set up a dance party at home:
- Step 1: Put on your favorite music, with our without lyrics. Here’s a world music playlist for kids we put together that might inspire you.
- Step 2: Clear a space to really get your bodies moving.
- Step 3: Dance! Get silly and enjoy creating new moves together.
A variation on “If You’re Happy and You Know It”
If you’d like to have more direction to your dance, try using the tune of “If You’re Happy and You Know It” but incorporate more action verbs from Week 3. For example, “If you’re happy and you know it run in place.”
Your child will get to practice rhythm by dancing and clapping along to different forms of music. Enjoy dance parties regularly!
